Another hotel proposed for Ga. Hwy. 53 in Braselton

Tourists looking for a spot to rest will soon find no shortage of hotels in Braselton.
The Braselton Town Council was slated to vote on Monday on an annexation and rezoning request that would pave the way for a Fairfield Inn and Suites off Ga. Hwy. 53.
However, the applicant asked the council to postpone a vote for a month, according to town manager Jennifer Scott.
The proposed four-story, 82-room hotel would be located on 1.78 acres next to Wendy’s in Jackson County.
Behind the fast-food restaurant, Hampton Inn is ironing out its plans for a 90-room hotel located off Chardonnay Trace Drive.
Less than four miles away, Country Inn & Suites is planning to open an 80-room hotel on Ga. Hwy. 124 in Barrow County.
In the past year, several other developments along the I-85 corridor in Braselton have received zoning approval for plans that included a hotel.
Mayor Pat Graham said Thursday that hotels are good for Braselton’s finances.
The town receives a total of five percent in hotel/motel taxes. For the next fiscal year, which starts July 1, and ends on June 30, 2009. Braselton estimates it will collect $645,000 in such funds.
Braselton currently has three hotels The Inn at Chateau Elan, Holiday Inn Express on Ga. Hwy. 211 and Best Western on Zion Church Road.
The property owner of the land proposed for a Fairfield Inn is Henry E. Braselton. Atul Patel, Suwanee, is the applicant for the request.
